Ride On Moto rests in the northwestern part of Virginia between the Alleghany and Blue Ridge mountains in the charming city of Winchester. This city distinguishes itself as offering “beauty to the edges” due to the mountain vistas, 270+ acres of parklands, and classic architecture. The area surrounding the city provides ample opportunity for Ride On Moto customers to enjoy their motor equipment and take in the scenery. After enjoying the scenic beauty, take a break in the historic Old Town Winchester, a 45-block historic district that includes a variety of options for historic exploration, dining, and shopping. This area is the heart of the city and draws visitors from near and far for many events throughout the year.
The area was settled in 1732 and was formally named Winchester in 1752. George Washington surveyed the area and used it as a training ground for his career in politics and military service. The George Washington’s Office Museum in Old Town preserves this antiquity and allows for further exploration into our nation’s first president. During the Civil War, several key battles were fought to secure the town for the army. The Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters Museum highlights how the city was instrumental in the general’s Valley Campaign.
Winchester is known as “Apple Capital” due to the large orchards in the area and they continue to be the largest Virginia producer of the crop as well as a prime exporter of the produce nationally. To honor this top crop the city hosts the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival annually. Celebrities, visitors, and locals flock to the city each May for “The Bloom” to enjoy luncheons, parades, carnivals, and dances during the week-long celebration.
Old Town Winchester is the hub for all things fun in the city. Part of the National Register of Historic Places, the Loudoun Street Pedestrian Mall, provides access to various restaurants, galleries, museums, and shops for all. The Downtown Mall also plays host to many annual events such as First Fridays for the Arts, the summer Outdoor Movie series, and First Night Winchester. The historic district is a perfect blend of old and new and the action never stops!
In the surrounding area around Winchester, outdoor enthusiasts can find a range of activities to enjoy. If you head 10 miles north, you will find Cove Campground and the various activities they offer from ATV trails, shooting ranges, and swimming. If you want to stretch your legs, head to the State Arboretum of Virginia to take in the 172 acres of farmland, trees, and shrubs. For the true adventurer, there is fun to be found at the Harpers Ferry Adventure Center. Any of these stops would make a great addition to your visit to our Ride on Moto showroom and service location.
